Sesame butter is a nice alternative to peanut butter or other nut butters. It has a delicious, nutty taste, and it is high in both protein and calcium. It's easy to make your own sesame butter in your food processor at home. You can use it on sandwiches, crackers, rice cakes, as a dip for raw veggies, or however else you might use peanut butter.
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
• 2 cups sesame seeds
• 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
• ¼ tablespoon salt
• food processor
You can choose either hulled or unhulled sesame seeds. Unhulled are higher in calcium, but may taste a little more bitter than hulled.
Put 2 cups sesame seeds in the food processor and process until finely ground.
Add 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, a little at a time, processing until smooth.
Blend in the salt.
Store your sesame butter in a covered container in the refrigerator. Note that when you make the sesame butter, it will appear a bit runny. It will thicken in the refrigerator.
